Netcoin Support / Paper wallet issues
« Last post by RalphQ on January 06, 2018, 02:30:28 PM »
Hi. I recently purchased a large amount of coins and I am having an issue getting them off of the exchange. I sent 500 to an address I made with the paper wallet on netcoin website. When I went to blockchain.info to see the transaction, I get this message, "Version code of address did not match acceptable versions for network: 112 not in [0, 5]"  When I did it on blockexplorer, it says, "No Matching records found." Can someone update the wallet?  Also tried to download the windows wallet, but had a hard time understanding the instructions. Followed the directions online and couldn't get it to sync or connect to a network. Thanks for any help, I really don't want to leave my coins on the exchange I plan on holding on to them for a while. Ralph.

Development Discussion / Suggestions
« Last post by sirfragalot on December 27, 2017, 07:19:32 PM »
Hi folks,

First of all, Hi! I am new to community; long-term holder of Net (2014).

I am actively trying to promote Net via my friends and colleagues because I see the benefits of this coin; however am met by the following comments whenever I try to set them up with a wallet. So, without telling you guys how to do your job, please could I make the following suggestions that might help this great coin gain a bit more traction.

1.) They come to this site and its not TLS - This could be easily sorted for free and automated using a free CA such as Lets Encrypt, etc. and would help gain a bit more trust from potential users. I can help you guys out with this if you like.

2.) I point them to download a wallet for either their Macs / Windows / Linux machines, and for the most part this is straight forward; however with the latest release 2.5.2 in order to gain any connections to the network one must manually add nodes.  This is easy on a Windows box, but Mac's I have no idea where the .conf file is.  This is where most people comment - "this should just work straight away, why is it so complicated".  Again, this would be easily rectified with either a) a comprehensive guide for all platforms b) an update to the wallet code?

I am willing to help you out with any of the above, just reply / drop me a PM.

Thanks,

Jon

Seems you have an unencrypted wallet or you unlocked before fully synced. Check this for helpful tips http://netcoin.io/addnode/#toggle-id-3

General Discussion / Booted up wallet for first time / conflicted POS transactions
« Last post by 1erCru on December 18, 2017, 08:39:52 PM »
It's been awhile since I synced my wallet. Everything is up and running.

The stream of POS rewards took a minute of two to come in , yet all but one cleared / confirmed.

The rest of them are greeted out in the transactions panel and listed as conflicted. There's probably about 20-30 large chunks of backflow POS net stuck as conflicted.

Any way to troubleshoot this ?

Hi. This is MikeB, (the dev formerly known as 'who' in the netcoin forums).  I'm still around and a major piece of work I'm undertaking right now is porting Netcoin to the C# .NET framework based on the bang up to date NBitcoin codebase by Bitcoin core developer Nicolas Dorier.

Glad to read you're still on board, MikeB. I hope you succeed in your intentions. What kind of time frame are we looking at for the things you're planning to do?

My goals are:
- Get NET running in C# .NET - because I'm a native c# coder and I love Visual Studio's development environment and the fact it now runs on any platform. .Net Core (Standard) is really proving itself as a cross-platform development solution.

- Minimise disruption to the NBitcoin codebase as I add the .NET specific code. This will simplify the task of staying up to date with the very latest desirable innovations from the bitcoin community going forwards (such as SPV 'light weight' wallet clients for mobile devices)

- Maintain compatibility (at least initially) with the current wallets (so no hard fork at this stage).  This might mean suppressing some of the latest bitcoin innovations initially, but then we could enable new features selectively based on the NET community wishlist.

- Open up Proof of Stake, PIR, OWI, and the other Netcoin innovations to the millions of C# developers out there.
Proof of Stake is not in Nicolas' codebase at all, so that is my final main challenge, and its a tough one, but I'm confident I'll get there and in a few weeks I'll be happy with the results.  It took me about 4 months to get the Proof of Stake logic into NET in 2014, so I'm hoping that early into the new year, I'll start seeing the entire Netcoin blockchain loading into Visual Studio.  That will be my second milestone.  (My first was getting the Netcoin genesis block loading and validating in .NET and I've already achieved that a few weeks ago)

So that's what I've been up to.  Let me know your comments, and remember at this stage, this is just something I'm doing because I live and breathe c# and Visual Studio in my day to day job, and I truly believe that doing this will open up Netcoin's future development to the millions of c# devs out there.

In the meantime, check out the readme and impressive feature list for the NBitcoin repo here:

Hey Snawdog,

I remember you mate! Welcome back!

Those were the days, and those days are returning, maybe not crazy mining of old - but NET is on the up and up.

Old faces returning while dev's have been working in the background all this time.

Drop in on Discord/NET channel ;)

Cheers.
